Cape Coral Weather
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and never want to be cold again – so the Cape Coral weather suites me just fine. I would always prefer to be hot than cold so the tropical climate combined with access to a swimming pool and boat are a great match for me. Cape Coral boasts over 300 days of sunshine each year and you wake up most mornings to bright, clear skies. I think that the “perfect months” for Cape Coral, Florida weather are mid-March to mid-May and mid-September to mid-November – with hot days and cooler nights and minimal rainfall. Those are the months when we turn the air conditioning off at night and sleep with the doors open . . . I love the peaceful sounds of the water in the canal behind
our houses.
Mid-November to mid-February have cooler average temperatures, but still appeal to visitors from the north. In fact, my 15 year old nephew (who lives on the Canadian border) refuses to visit any time other time – for him, these are the “perfect months”. Poor thing. Cape Coral weather does fall into seasons – wet and dry, summer and winter, hurricane and well – non-hurricane. I’m not sure that you could call the jacaranda tree blooming season a true season – but that gorgeous tree turns a beautiful purple/blue in April. The wettest months are June, July, August and September. If you visit during these months, plan your days to take advantage of sunny mornings - in the pool, at the beach or out on the waterways. There is typically a 50% chance of rain each afternoon in this rainy season - but the temperatures stay warm so you can enjoy the sound of rain from your covered lanai or a restaurant's covered patio. Check the local news for the daily forecast.

And, finally, a word about bugs. Cape Coral has a very aggressive program to eliminate unwanted insect pests. Most are kept to a minimal level in populated areas. However, during the rainy season you can expect to encounter "no seem 'ums" most evenings at dusk. These minuscule biting insects are easily kept at bay with bug spray - but it is easy to forget to apply it in the evenings when you have been experiencing relatively bug free days. Also note that boater's only destinations are not included in the city's insect management program so you should always pack bug spray when exploring these locations.
