Cape Coral Restaurants
Picnics To Go

Boating destinations such as Picnic Island and Cayo Costa have little or no services so you will need to pack in your own lunch. If you don’t feel like making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, try one of these Cape Coral restaurants for tasty take-out or delivery of a picnic lunch to go.

Blue Pepper (239) 939-4700, 7091-14 College Parkway, Fort Myers. The wraps from the Blue Pepper are refreshing and unique. This restaurant is located across the Cape Coral Parkway bridge about two miles into Ft. Myers, so it is a bit of a drive, but if you are bored with the usual fare, I highly recommend them. Their menu is available online so you can order ahead. For more info on this restaurant, see my dining review.

Cape Dog & Deli (239) 541-9764, 1227 Cape Coral Parkway E, Cape Coral. This restaurant does a brisk delivery service to area homes and businesses over the lunch hour. Their food is good, but their menu is pretty standard - sandwiches, hotdogs, chips, soup and desserts. If you intend to take your lunch with you to eat later, I recommend that you inquire carefully and do not order any hot or toasted sandwiches. The big advantage of this restaurant is that they deliver to homes in the southeast Cape. They are only open for lunch and they are closed on Sundays.

Jason’s Deli (239) 458-8700, 2311 Santa Barbara, Cape Coral. A national chain that serves HUGE portions, Jason’s Deli is very proficient at lunches to go. I recommend their untoasted sandwiches, salads and wraps for inclusion in any picnic basket. You can review their catering menu and order online or over the phone. There is a delivery charge if you want them to bring it to you.

Publix Deli - This grocery store has a full service deli that can make sandwiches to order. They have five locations in the city and you can call ahead – although you should do this well in advance and double check your order as this is not their specialty. The advantage to getting your picnic lunch at Publix is you can get your cooler, ice, drinks, lunch and other items all in one stop.

Subway – This chain restaurant has locations all over Cape Coral and you can call in your order ahead for pick up at a time you specify. There are eight Subway locations in Cape Coral – and two locations on each of the following streets: Cape Coral Parkway, Hancock Bridge Parkway and Del Prado. Make sure you choose the one closest to you and double check that you called the one you wanted – I was very disappointed once to find I had ordered at one location and arrived at another.

NOTE: Before you go out boating I recommend you transfer all items to a waterproof, hard sided cooler! For remote picnic adventures we also take along a lighter just in case we want a campfire, trashbags, toilet paper and bug spray/sunscreen.

On your way to Cayo Costa and don’t have time to pack or purchase your picnic? Plan to visit the restaurant at Cabbage Key.
