Cape Coral Foreclosures

Interested in purchasing Cape Coral foreclosures at the public auction? The area recently had the dubious distinction of leading the nation in foreclosures.

We’ve purchased a couple of properties at the public auction in the past. These webpages about Cape Coral foreclosures provide information about online and physical resources we found and used during our research phases.

When actively looking for foreclosure properties to bid on at the public auction I:

  • review the online foreclosure calendar for the houses up for auction two weeks out;

  • do as much online research as I could to narrow down the number of properties I had to review at the Lee County Justice Center;
  • go to the Lee County Justice Center to review the court files and conduct due diligence on the houses that met our criteria;
  • spend the weekend driving by properties of interest (sometimes they were listed for sale and we could arrange to see the interior with the listing agent);
  • if they were viable options, we had a realtor friend pull market comps for us to find out what houses in the area were selling for / listed at;

  • go to the auction to bid. Many times the house would be pulled from the auction block, but twice we have been able purchase homes; and then
  • we would have to take care of the payments and fees required after the auction.

Sound miserable? Crazy as it may seem, we actually enjoy it. Buying foreclosures at the Lee County public auction is not for the faint of heart - but it can be a rush. My husband really enjoys bidding - and winning (of course).

Follow the links below to find out more. But before you start, click here for basic information on Cape Coral (Lee County) foreclosures.

Note that buying foreclosures at the public auction requires immediate payment of the entire purchase price. If you need to finance your purchase, seek more traditional methods of home acquisition.

To write these pages, I researched the foreclosure calendar for the week of March 31, 2008 as outlined above and attended the public auction held April 1st.

The content of these pages is provided for informational purposes only and represents my personal view and experience on the subject of the Cape Coral foreclosure process. It is not offered as, nor should it be taken as, professional advice. Seek professional legal and financial counsel before making any investment decisions.
