Best Cape Coral Restaurants - The Veranda
The fine dining offered by The Veranda restaurant in the Cape Coral area is - well, surprising. Nestled in the middle of downtown Ft. Myers, we were unexpectedly charmed by it's quiet patio, it's excellent and unusual southern regional cuisine and it's attentive, professional wait staff.
From start to finish our experiences at The Veranda have been a delight. The wine selection is more extensive than most area establishments. Their pre-dinner bread basket is served with butter and a delicious pepper jelly. The appetizer selection is wonderful and if you choose to split something, it is done in the kitchen in advance. The dinner salad and sides are included in the price of your entree. We have enjoyed their grouper and filet mignon.
I had made a reservation for the patio on our first visit and the walk through the two turn-of-the-century homes that make up The Veranda made me wonder if I had made the right choice. And then I saw the patio. The fish pond, waterfall and lush tropical landscaping eased us into our comfortable chairs at a table set with crisp linens. Ah!
We went in the heat of mid-summer and it took us a while to identify the fans and mists that kept us comfortable, they were so unobtrusive.
The restaurant advertises it's "Attire is Dressy Casual" and requests no jeans, sneakers, t-shirts or shorts. I must confess that we didn't know this and have taken a guest in jeans and a ball cap before and received service AFTER he removed his ball cape.
If you want to pamper your palate, make a reservation at The Veranda restaurant during your stay in Cape Coral.
