Best Cape Coral Restaurants - Bubba's Roadhouse & Saloon
When we’re hungry for steak, we always head for Bubba's Roadhouse and Saloon. This Cape Coral restaurant has consistently good food and a very casual, kid-friendly atmosphere.
This is a popular place to dine so there can be a wait. If you call ahead, they’ll put your name on the waiting list. There is a bar area with TVs and live entertainment on the weekends and, occasionally, weeknights. If you like it quieter, call ahead to find out when the band WON’T be playing!
There are many great things on the menu . . . but, after seven years of dining at this restaurant, we are in a comfortable rut with our ordering. We like the prime rib and the steak tips, although we have tried and liked many other main dishes, too. In America the land of overconsumption, we like to go against the flow and split a large prime rib and pay the split charge that gives us each our own choice of two sides. It’s a great deal at $4.95 (last verified January, 2008) and more than enough food.
We don’t ever order appetizers anymore - although they are delicious. We just munch on the free peanuts while we wait for the delicious bottomless salads. The salads are made with iceberg lettuce, chopped boiled egg, red onion, carrots, tomato and cheddar cheese with your choice of dressing. It is a great start to your meal and really tasty.
In addition to the salad, other side options we like are the HUGE baked potatoes which you can order with your choice of butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon and green onion. The sautéed mushrooms are very good, too. And, I love the green beans which are cooked crisp and very fresh. (One time the green beans looked wilted and dull and I sent them back and got a better plate right away.)
They also serve jalapeno corn bread muffins that are very tasty – but I usually save my appetite for the steak, salad, potato, mushrooms or green beans.
The kids like to shell the peanuts and toss the trash from them onto the floor. The kid’s menu has the standard fare and the dessert menu isn’t extensive. My middle son likes the BBQ ribs.
To help the boys pass the time when it’s really busy, they play in the field/parking lot out back while we wait for a table. Other amusements include using the colors provided to draw on the paper covering the table cloths, writing their names on the exposed brick wall (everybody does this) and watching the cooks work at the grill. There is also an amusing vending machine in the bar where you can try to catch a lobster for your dinner.
This restaurant moved several years ago from its Cape Coral Parkway location to Pine Island Road so many people may have lost track of it. It is a bit out of the way – but well worth the trip.
